The Dexys Midnight Runners Group

As this series of scans heads towards its conclusion we reach the middle of 1986 and the next communication from the Dexys camp in which Kevin informed Circle members about future Dexys singles "You're Alright With Me" (recorded for a "very good" BBC comedy show back in March of that year) and "Walk Away". Once again however, the suggested time-scale for release of the new L.P. proved a little optimistic!

By the time of the following Newsletter in November '86, Dexys were back in the charts again (for what would prove to be the last time) with the retitled single, "Because Of You (The Theme From Brush Strokes)". The letter found Helen O'Hara reminiscing about her times with Dexys (perhaps sensing that they were drawing to a close) and revealing that the new L.P. (which they were "close to recording") would be less fiddle-orientated than before.

And so we arrive at the last known installment of the "Dexys Midnight Runners Circle" newsletters, dated August 1987. At this point it still appeared that the new L.P. would be a Dexys release, but by the time the afore-mentioned single "Walk Away" was released eight months later, Kevin Rowland was a solo artist and Dexys were no more.

Forward to: Part Fifteen (featuring the promotional material for the 1991 release, 'The Very Best of Dexys Midnight Runners')
